the story of moss & MOOR

Live Well, Eat Well and Grow

We are a purposeful, value-led, independent and family-owned business with an aim to ‘Grow Together’.
The Moss & Moor experience has been purposefully designed to be inclusive for all: an uplifting environment for the wellbeing of everyone.

Our storewide sustainable practices help us deliver that vision, alongside the important and meaningful relationships we’re building with local community groups, charities and schools.

We believe in doing the right thing, in acting honestly, fairly and professionally. We look forward to being part of the local community and becoming a friendly destination for people to be inspired in so many ways.

Our Team

Here to Welcome and Advise

Hello, we’re the Moss & Moor team, here to welcome you to our beautiful garden centre with a difference. We are an inclusive and diverse group of experts. Our excellent customer service associates are on hand to help throughout your visit and if you buy our garden furniture, you will also come across our friendly delivery and warehouse members.

If you require plant advice, please do speak to our horticultural experts in our Potting Shed.

Our experienced head chef, supported by a wonderful team of kitchen and front of house members, are proud to share and serve our delicious and nourishing dishes.

Finally, we couldn’t forget the office team who keep the wheels turning and who occasionally pop out of the engine room!

Partnering with Local Charities

We are proud to be part of the local Ilkley community and as we grow, we feel it’s only right that we partner with local charities we care about. We do this through support and also employing those who wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to work in a setting such as Moss & Moor. We were proud to host our first Yorkshire Veteran fundraising event and are pleased to be able to offer work to members from Outside the Box

Our Conscious Commitment

In support of reducing the impact on our environment, from concept to build, we took a conscious decision to choose to work with local and like-minded Yorkshire suppliers. Where possible, we have used sustainable material in the build of our new garden centre with a difference.

We will continue to make steps and introduce new initiatives to achieve our commitment as we grow.

Supporting the Community

Moss & Moor has been a long-standing project, which has been several years in planning in partnership with designers, developers and employees from the local community. Despite a challenging year for everyone, we actively engaged with local community groups in advance of opening and will continue to do so as we grow.

We are pleased to have already supported some of our local schools to give children the chance to connect with nature through various learning and gardening initiatives – from creating a sensory garden for Ben Rydding Pre-school, to donating compost to the Burley & Woodhead CE Primary school, and providing seed potatoes for the Westville House Field to Fork project.

We look forward to being a long-term member and supporting our local Ilkley community.
